Setting up your first workspace
Pick a name, choose a slug, and you're in.

Workspaces are how HelloCivic groups everything you do — your sites, your team, your billing, your usage. You'll be guided into creating one the first time you sign in.
Name and slug
Your workspace name is the human-readable label your team sees ("Acme Civic Team"). The slug is the URL-safe identifier used in your dashboard URL (/dashboard/workspaces/acme-civic).
Slugs are permanent-ish
You can rename a workspace any time, but changing the slug breaks any deep links your team has bookmarked. Pick something short and durable on the first try.
What gets created
When you finish the workspace wizard, we set up:
- A default plan (Starter, free) — you can upgrade any time.
- An owner role for you, with full access to everything.
- An empty workspace ready for your first scan, document, or widget.
Next: invite your team
Most workspaces have at least 2–3 people. Head to Members & permissions to bring them in.
